Episode 147: Paul Brutsche, Ph.D.

Aug. 6, 2025: Jungian analyst Paul Brutsche, Ph.D. was born in Jung’s hometown of Basel, Switzerland. He earned a doctorate in psychology from the University of Zürich and completed his analytic training at the C.G. Jung Institute in Küsnacht. A co-founding president of the International School of Analytical Psychology, he continues to serve as a lecturer, training analyst, and supervisor. Dr. Brutsche has portrayed Jung in numerous theatrical productions, including The Red Book, The Analyst and the Rabbi, and, most recently, Eranos: A Play. (We dedicate this episode to Paul’s wife, Diane Cousineau Brutsche, Ph.D., who passed away on August 8th. In cherished memory.)

Aug. 13, 2025: Jungian analyst Kathrin Schaeppi joined us from Basel, Switzerland, to discuss her role as Aniela Jaffé in "Eranos: A Play” and her new book, C.G. Jung —The Basel Years: A Walking Guide, published in August by Daimon Verlag. Born in Basel, Switzerland, Eva Wertenschlag-Birkhäuser is a Jungian analyst in private practice in Berne. She received her diploma in analytical psychology from the C.G. Jung Institute Zürich (Küsnacht) and is president of the Research and Training Centre for Depth Psychology according to C.G. Jung and Marie-Louise von Franz where she is also a faculty member and a training analyst. She is co-editor of the book on her father’s paintings, Light from the Darkness: The Paintings of Peter Birkhäuser. A new edition has been released this year by Daimon Verlag.
