David E. Schoen, LCSW, MSSW, holds a master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of Texas at Austin and a Diploma in Analytical Psychology from the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts in North America.
He has a background as an alcohol and chemical dependency counselor, and as a clinical social worker. Now a senior analyst with the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts, he chairs their Ethics Committee, is cofounder and past coordinator of the New Orleans Jungian Seminar, and is currently an advisor to the C.G. Jung Society of Baton Rouge.
Mr. Schoen speaks nationally and internationally on various aspects of Jungian Psychology, and is a Louisiana Poet. His private practice, located in Covington, Louisiana, is centrally located between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
His first book, Divine Tempest: The Hurricane As a Psychic Phenomenon, published by Inner City Books in 1998, and his second book, The War of the Gods in Addiction: C.G. Jung, Alcoholics Anonymous and Archetypal Evil, published in 2009 by Spring Journal, were the subject of Episode 8 of this podcast when Mr. Schoen and I sat down together in 2015 at the Fall Conference of the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts here in Chicago.
His latest book, Always a Fighting Tiger: Memoirs of an Ordinary LSU Football Fan, was released in 2014 by Tate Publishing, and it is the subject of our talk today.
