Joining us today from the Amritapuri Ashram in South India is Jungian analyst, author, and astrologer Sherene Vismaya.
Currently in private practice in San Francisco, California and Kerala, India, Sherene is the creator of Project 40: Forty Days & Forty Nights of Jungian Alchemy and has been the resident astrologer for Elle UK magazine since 2005.
She earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology from New York University and a master’s degree in psychoanalytic studies from The New School for Social Research. She trained as a Jungian analyst at the International School of Analytical Psychology in Zürich where she later taught the course, Seeking the Self: The Archetype of the Hermit & the Solitary Path of Individuation.
Sherene is the co-author of Surviving Saturn’s Return: Overcoming the Most Tumultuous Time of Your Life, The Fate of Your Date: Divination for Dating, Mating, & Relating, and Dog Stars: Astrology for Dog Lovers, and she is the former writer of the astrology column for Teen Vogue.
Her yearly pilgrimages to India over the past two decades have greatly influenced her philosophy and her work. She attributes much of her metaphysical knowledge to her spiritual guru Mata Amritanandamayi, and the insight of her late astrology mentor, Edwin C. Steinbrecher. She received her astrology certification in 2000 and continues to incorporate D.O.M.E.’s Inner Guide Meditation technique – a process of integrating active imagination with astrology.
Sherene’s writing credits and features include: NBC/Astrology.com, Fox Morning Show, The Benjamin Moore Aurascope Campaign, BravoTV.com, Lifescript, and The Mountain Astrologer. She teaches classes and workshops internationally on astrology, Jungian/Archetypal Psychology, dream analysis and Authentic Movement.
