Stefano Carpani, Ph.D. is a Jungian psychoanalyst and sociologist in private practice in Berlin, Germany.

After graduating from the Catholic University of Milan, he went on to earn a Master of Arts in Globalization, Culture & Society from Manchester Metropolitan University, a Master of Philosophy in Global Transformation & Modern Society from the University of Cambridge, and a Master in Sport Management from the SDA Bocconi Business School in Italy.

In 2015, he began training as a Jungian psychoanalyst at the C.G. Jung Institute Zürich, and the following year became a doctoral candidate in the Department of Psychosocial & Psychoanalytic Studies at the University of Essex in England. He graduated from the Jung Institute in 2020 with a Diploma in Analytical Psychology (the degree of a Jungian analyst), and received his Ph.D. in 2023 with the thesis, “Absolute Freedom: The ‘I+I’ (Individuation + Individualization) as a Metanarrative of Self-Development in a Second-Late-Modern Society.”

Since 2017, Dr. Carpani has been engaging in various initiatives related to the development of contemporary analytical psychology in the hope they will continue to help Jung’s psychology become visible and audible for individuals and collectives who benefit, respectively, from Jungian therapy and our knowledge in shaping policy and society. These initiatives include:

Three YouTube series – Breakfast at Küsnacht (2017), Lockdown Therapy (2020), and War as Reset (2022) – now totaling more than 100 interviews capturing the voices of senior Jungians
Psychosocial Wednesdays, a digital salon modeled on Freud’s Wednesday meetings in Vienna and Jung’s meetings at the Psychology Club in Zürich, featuring speakers from various psychoanalytic traditions, schools, and associated fields

Additionally, a new book series by Dr. Carpani is now underway. He has created and will edit the Routledge Introduction to Contemporary Analytical Psychology & Neo-Jungian Studies, to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of the post-Jungian thinkers who have shaped analytical psychology over the past 20–30 years. The first volume, focused on Murray Stein (14 episodes), will be published this winter, followed by books on Jungian analysts Verena Kast, John Beebe (Ep. 109), Tom Singer, and Andrew Samuels.

Dr. Carpani is also the editor of several other books including Breakfast at Küsnacht, The Plural Turn in Jungian & Post-Jungian Studies, Anthology of Contemporary Theoretical Classics in Analytical Psychology, Individuation & Liberty in a Globalized World, Lockdown Therapy, and the forthcoming War as Reset: Insights from Contemporary Analytical Psychology on the Age of Hypocrisy, scheduled to be published by Routledge on May 27th.

He is also the author of Absolute Freedom: Individuation & Individualization in Second-Late-Modern Societies, The New Myth of Analysis for a Neo-Jungian Analytical Psychology, and the forthcoming Love Does Not Exist, scheduled to be published in 2026. Currently, Dr. Carpani is dedicated full time to his clinical work in private practice both online and at his home in Berlin, Germany.
