Michael Marsman, L.C.S.W. is a certified Jungian analyst in private practice in Berkeley, California.
He is a graduate of the Jungian Psychoanalytic Association training program in New York City of which he is a faculty member, supervisor, and former board member. He is also a member of the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco and the International Association for Analytical Psychology.
Michael has taught and presented nationally and internationally on diverse topics such as Hindu mythology, analytic ethics, transgenderism, archetypes and the collective unconscious, and amplification.
Previously a Certified Public Accountant and controller of a multi-million dollar investment bank, he currently serves as treasurer and board member of the Philemon Foundation, the organization that brought The Red Book and The Black Books of C.G. Jung to publication.
He is licensed in both California and New York and sees individuals and couples in person and/or via telehealth/teletherapy. Among the people he works with are those identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and queer/questioning as well those who are addicted, in recovery, and with people for whom spirituality, both eastern and western, is an integral part of life.
His research focuses on Hindu mythology and gender and sexuality. Among his published works are “Bringing Dharma to Earth” in Spring Journal’s Fall 2013 issue Jung & India, “Transgenderism & Transformation: An Attempt at a Jungian Understanding” in the Journal of Analytical Psychology’s November 2017 issue, and “Kali: In Praise of the Goddess” in the November 2019 issue of Psychological Perspectives.
